Gary Michael Gabry — Unmatched Experience On Both Sides Of The Courtroom

Gary Michael Gabry has been practicing law in Michigan for 37 years. Since 2003 he's worked primarily in criminal defense, as well as parole hearings, appeals, civil litigation and family law. Before that, he spent 24 years as a prosecutor in Ionia and Kern counties, including two terms as Ionia County's elected prosecutor. He was also appointed by the governor to chair the Michigan Parole Board, to which he introduced many reforms. Gary doesn't just have a detailed knowledge of the state's sentencing and parole processes – he helped write the book on them before founding G. M. Gabry Law.

A Leader In The Legal Community

Gary is a recognized leader in the state's legal community: he was recently elected to serve as chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Michigan State Bar, and has also served as president of the Michigan Prosecutors Association. Mr. Gabry regularly lectures on criminal procedure, sentencing and parole, trial techniques, and strategies and defenses; he has spoken before audiences, including the Michigan Judicial Conference and many other attorney groups.

An Attorney With Local Knowledge

Gary is proud to have grown up right here in Portage – he graduated from Kalamazoo Hackett High School in 1971. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan, and his Juris Doctorate at Michigan State's Detroit College of Law. Today, Gary combines his legal expertise with his intimate knowledge of the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek metro area, working Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Barry, Ionia, St. Joseph and Branch counties. He knows how local and county prosecutors think, and how to work with them to help his clients get results.
